The original World Series of Poker dealt its first hand in 1969. The dealer behind the show was Tom Moore from San Antonio, Texas, and the place was an invitational event at Holiday Hotel and Casino in Reno. This inaugural event was won by legendary pokerplayer Crandell Addington who later managed to place himself in the top ten of the World Series of Poker Main Event eight times - a record that still stands! But it was a man by the name of Benny Binion and his two sons Jack and Ted who would turn the World Series of poker into the prestigious tournament that the event is today.
